On 11 January, 2017, at the 30th Anniversary Meeting Room of the Thai Travel Agents Association (TTAA) Head Office, some representatives from Sendai, Tohoku Region, Japan met with the TTAA Board of Directors led by Mr. Suparerk Soorangura, President of TTAA. The meeting comprised exchanges of opinions about the market expansion of Sendai. In the near future, the Sendai Airport will reopen after closing for refurbishing and administrative changes to become privatised in which it originally was operated by the government . Furthermore, Sendai will meet with Thai Airways International Public Company Limited to discuss about the opening of direct flights from Bangkok to Sendai, and it is anticipated that in the future, there will many airlines operating direct flights to Sendai from Thailand. This may generate a lot more interest in Sendai among tourists. Also Sendai has a plan to promote its tourism by contacting Thai TV Channel 3 to shoot a drama in Sendai as well.
